This blog is dedicated to Canada’s homecoming vets and their families.
People forget that soldiers returning home are not the only victims of the wars they’ve fought. So are their loved ones, families and friends. They need as much social assistance as the soldiers themselves. Those coming home are forever changed. They have experienced things the rest of us can’t imagine. They carry this psychological burden for the rest of their lives.
After eight years of fighting in Afghanistan, the public needs to get behind our vets and demand the social services they deserve and need. This is the most important tribute we can give our returning vets for the sacrifices they’ve made on behalf of our country.
Hi, nice to meet you !
Nie to meet you as well, ReadersHaven. Hope you find this blog valuable.

Bonnie — Just letting you know I added you to our PTSD bloggers page: http://healmyptsd.com/awareness/other-voices
Thank you, Michelle. I truly appreciate this and associating with you. Perhaps you will think about the occasional guest blog for Homecoming Vets?
Bonnie
Bonnie,
There is, as I’ve found over the last six months, a disconnect between the positions of the U.S., the U.K. and Canadian Governments and reality.
They refuse to recognize that those who were in combat zones suffered exposure to radioactivity from the firing of munitions containing DU, depleted uranium. Radioactive particles inhaled continue to radiate and are the cause of many ailments varying from person to person but always becoming more severe over time.
The most distressing effect in the long term is the alteration in DNA that occurs, that can be passed on to a mate in sexual relations and that can deform their children. Such is present among civilian populations where there has been intensive fighting.
The Governments have used science. The tests they have used are so structured they diagnose for what will not be present for depleted uranium is not to be found but rather isotopes of uranium which have not been tested for.
The American government on February 23rd in a MEMORANDUM from the Assistant Secretary of Defense http://www.health.mil/Libraries/HA_Policies_and_Guidelines/12-001.pdf published on the same day as was the “VA Gulf War Research Strategic Plan Revised DRAFT 2012Jan23″ http://www.scribd.com/doc/79701467/VA-Gulf-War-Research-Strategic-Plan-Revised-DRAFT-2012Jan23 effectively closed its books. Research would continue but not on depleted uranium as a cause. This had been undertaken and no relationship established.
The MEMORANDUM was timely as well for the Scientific Advisory Committee established through the promise made to Pascal Lacoste is to meet shortly. The MEMORANDUM from the American ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF DEFENSE will beyond doubt weigh greatly in its deliberations and conclusions.
Science, it is being asserted, proves there is no relationship between the unhappy occurrences and DU. In fact, Science can prove a relationship. The assay has been developed and recognized. The active participation of Canadian veterans in the field since 1991 is necessary to do so for presentation to the Scientific Advisory Committee.
This is presented as a challenge, as “un défi” to participate in this battle.

Joe, I am going to copy and post this on a blog because I am concerned your comment will not be read by enough people to respond to your invitation.
Bonnie
Bonnie,
No samples forthcoming to this point.
You will, I know, do what you can
Regards

YOUR ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED
TO CHALLENGE AND DISPROVE THE GOVERNMENTS’ VIEW DEPLETED URANIUM
HAS HAD NO EFFECT ON VETERANS.
The newly formed Veterans Affairs Scientific Advisory Committee “will convene early in the new year and use its first meeting to establish a timetable for its work. Its first study will be on depleted uranium. ” http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/department/press/viewrelease/1298
The American, Canadian and British governments for financial reasons all assert there is no relationship between depleted uranium used in munitions in combat zones from 1991 to the present and the undiagnosed illnesses falling under the term Gulf War Syndrome.
http://www.health.mil/Libraries/HA_Policies_and_Guidelines/12-001.pdf http://dir.yahoo.com/Health/Diseases_and_Conditions/Gulf_War_Syndrome/
This view will carry the day unless scientific evidence is presented establishing this relationship: that uranium isotopes are in a persons body continually radiating, increasingly affecting both body and mind – and being transmitted to intimate partners and their children.
A diagnostic test identifying the degree of radioactivity has been developed, is recognized by the American Government as being valid.
To save money, however, rather than being proclaimed to veterans, anyone suggesting there’s a relationship between “DU” and illnesses on the internet are contacted to be persuaded and, if not accepting the governments’ position, attacked.
Your assistance is necessary. Urine samples from those in combat zones since 1991. Fumes from munitions are wind born, inhaled and radioactivity begins.
120mls of urine from a number of individuals are necessary to be able to present the Committee with the truth: there is a scientifically proven relationship.
The effect will be felt here in Canada but in the U.S. and the U.K. as well.
So, if you and others you know are prepared to fight for recognition of what is true, contact me so arrangements can be made to obtain your contribution.

What follows is where we’re at. Everything’s ready to do battle with the governments – except the samples:
For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a message the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.
In this case establishing depleted uranium is the cause of many miseries.

Tracking the history of this soldier’s suicide as you have, Joe, shows definitively how the mililtary has failed to cope with all the repercussions of exposing our forces to questionable drugs, toxic contaminants as well as combat shock repeatedly over many years. Now there is no question the government and the DND are accountable for their attitude and callous treatment of our soldiers and veterans.
